Our mission is to eradicate preventable genetic diseases and enable a healthy beginning for children, notwithstanding culture, tradition, geography or socio-economic status.
In the Middle East, there are ~3 million children born with severe genetic diseases. We aim to change this reality and provide children with the opportunity to lead healthy lives.
There are 21 million Bedouins in the Middle East. Genesis will begin working in Israel, where there is a population of 300,000, and then expand to Palestine and across the Middle East.
5 times more Bedouin infants across the Middle East die from genetic diseases, relative to OECD countries.
80% of the Bedouin Community in Israel are estimated to be carrying a genetic disease.
15% of the Bedouin Community in Israel suffer from severe genetic diseases.
Every 1% decrease in the prevalence of genetic diseases will save the Israeli government $100 million by saving medical care, hospital and IVF costs.
We aim to decrease the prevalence of genetic diseases in the Bedouin community and other closed societies, by spearheading premarital genetic testing and matching.
Our approach is proactive and community-based. We have a mobile clinic that provides education and awareness sessions in schools, mosques and shig’s (a Bedouin gathering place). Blood will be drawn from youngsters above 18 who consent to this. Couples will then be able to utilize the Genesis matching platform to make well informed decisions before marriage and childbearing.
The unique Genesis network and methodology will enable bridging the infrastructure of the Bedouin community with the resources of the medical establishment.
